HUBZone Guide
A Guide to Working With an SBA Certified HUBZone Small Business
For contracting officers, program offices and companies building a team.
The HUBZone program gives agencies and their teams ways to bring in small businesses located in historically underutilized business zones. Here is how it works in practice, and how to verify and engage a firm like Thazen.
What the Certification Means
An SBA Certified HUBZone Small Business has been certified by the U.S. Small Business Administration under the HUBZone program. Certification is tied to the firm’s principal office and workforce, and the SBA reviews it over time.
Ways to Contract
HUBZone set-aside: a requirement can be set aside for competition among HUBZone small businesses.
Sole-source award: under the program’s rules, a requirement can be awarded sole source to a HUBZone small business.
Price evaluation preference: in full and open competition, an eligible HUBZone firm can receive the price evaluation preference.
Teaming and subcontracting: a company leading a program can add a HUBZone small business to its team on an existing vehicle or a new pursuit.
How to Verify a Firm
Search the firm’s UEI or CAGE code in SAM.gov and the SBA’s small business search. Thazen’s UEI is PT4KKZTHVNK8 and our CAGE code is 9HCR8. Our capability statement lists both.
Working With Thazen
Thazen provides AI, software, cloud and DevSecOps engineering for DoW and federal programs from Eustis, Florida. Our primary NAICS is 541511. You can order through MDA SHIELD, use a set-aside, or add us to your team. See HUBZone contracting with Thazen for codes and vehicles.
